Retirement is not what it used to be! One of the many options for retirement today is an encore career. Described by Forbes as a second act, an encore career is a career pursued after retiring or stepping away from one’s primary profession. This could be pursued by a new passion or a desire to give back to one's community. It may also be a way for one to stay engaged following the end of their primary profession. Whatever the reason may be for you, it can help you financially and mentally in your retirement years.
3. Healthier and more active lifestyles
As retirement can now span 20 or more years, maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle is key. It promotes wellbeing in a number of ways from mental strength, to physical strength reducing falls and other illness. The CDC notes that there are both long term and short term benefits, from brain and heart health to reducing blood pressure and improving sleep.
