This month, we have highlighted a variety of senior-friendly activities and destinations throughout Fitchburg and Wisconsin!
The Great Outdoors
The HighLine Senior Apartments has a multitude of parks and outdoor spaces for you to visit during the springtime. The closest to home, is of course the Nine Springs Golf Course, less than a five-minute walk from The HighLine Senior Apartments. Slightly further away is the Abor Hills Park, a retreat for all ages with green open spaces to enjoy nature while remaining close to home. If you are interested in a more substantial outside experience, with a hike or two, visit the Southern Arboretum Trails. Just a 6-minute drive from The HighLine Senior Apartments, the trails offer more than 17 miles of trails through restored prairies, savannas, woodlands, and wetlands.
Activities with Others
If you are looking for activities to do with grandchildren, friends, or family members, look no further. McKee Farms Park has something to offer for the whole family, from playgrounds, splash parks, and open fields as well as restrooms and on-site parking. Furthermore, Henry Villas Zoo can offer an enjoyable day out for all. One of the few admission-free and community-supported zoos in the country, the zoo’s mission is to conserve and protect the wonders of the living natural world. The zoo houses animals from all over the world, from Africa to South America is less than 15 minutes away from The HighLine Senior Apartments.
Community Led
There are also a great number of community-led events that occur each month and can be found on the Fitchburg County website! These include a Poetry Discussion Circle, which is held on the first Wednesday of each month, as well as a variety of book clubs, from A Good Yarn book club, the Evening Book Club ,and the Fantasy Book Club!
