January can be a tricky month for all of us. When the holiday season ends, we miss spending time with loved ones. There’s even the occurrence of Blue Monday, dubbed the most depressing day of the year. But there’s so much fun to be had in and around Fitchburg. Here’s how you can make the most of Madison Winters.
Stay Active
Being active is good for your mind, body, and soul all year round and is a great way to give your mood a boost. There are plenty of beautiful outdoor parks to explore. McKee Farm’s Park is just a couple of minutes down the road with all kinds of sports fields and courts and a splash pad. McGaaw Park is the perfect place to walk your pet and is just a 5-minute drive from The HighLine.
If you’re not the outdoorsy type, one way to get your body moving is by joining Perennial Yoga, just a few minutes down the road from The HighLine. With a beautiful range of classes, a cozy feel, and a stunning view over the neighboring fields, it’s a great place to relax, challenge yourself, or even sit to journal and take in the view.
Explore Local Cuisine
If you haven’t heard of Paul’s Palmeni, you’re missing out. As a local delicacy, most people believe you have to venture downtown to find their famous Russian dumplings, but one of Fitchburg’s best-kept secrets is that it’s also served at Oasis Cafe right here in Fitchburg! There are so many other restaurants nearby including:
- Me and Julio, a wonderful Mexican restaurant with pub quizzes, meat raffles, and trivia nights
- The Thirsty Goat, which serves fantastic food, has daily happy hours, and Saturday night karaoke
- The Great Dane Pub, a cozy bar with a great selection of beer and pub food
