Stress-Free Summer: Preparing Your Apartment for the Season Ahead

  |     |   Madison WI

Summer is fast approaching, making it the perfect time to refresh your apartment ahead of the new season. This week on the blog, we are sharing our best tips for an apartment refresh, so you can make the most of your home this summer.

Declutter Your Space

The best way to begin a space refresh is to declutter. Begin by going through each room of your apartment and putting away anything that is not needed for summer. These could be large blankets used on rainy spring days, but no longer needed, decluttering your wardrobe for summer or just tidying up any messes that need to be cleared.

This should make your space feel lighter and ready for the next step…

Deep Clean

Once your space has been decluttered, it's time to deep clean. Start with your most used spaces, which don’t always get a deep clean, such as your bathroom, or behind cupboards and other furniture. Getting rid of hidden dust and ensuring that even the spaces you can’t see are clean.

Prepare Outside Spaces Too

While your inside spaces are important, don’t forget about your outside space too. Summer will see outside spaces used far more, so it's important they get a refresh too. Get rid of any plants that may not have flourished this spring or have been sitting since the winter. It’s a great time to plant fresh flowers and begin to watch them grow this season.

Add Summer Decor

To add to your spaces, add in summer colors to make your space feel brighter and happier. The 2026 Summer colors are a mixture of pale yellows, terracotta and chartreuse, which are sure to add a mellow but summer-fueled palette to your space, both inside and out.

There are many renter-friendly ways colors can be added to your space. From linens and thrones on your bedding and on soft furnishings, to trinkets in living spaces and crockery in your kitchen.

Happy Summer Refreshing!
